The Spatial Audio Transition

-

Longtime reader here, and I love the knowledge I have gained over the years from reading Sound & Vision. I am excited about the Spatial Audio transition as I have my Apple TV box connected to a 7.4.2 Dolby Atmos system in a multi-use area (bar, projector, entertainment room) for listening to Spatial Audio tracks on Apple Music. I listened to surround music on SACD in the past and loved it, but then the format started to die. I loved two releases in particular: Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and Aerosmith’s Toys in the Attic. How do we get in touch with Apple to get these released on Spatial Audio? Both are incredible: Dark Side speaks for itself, and Toys is SO SO SO dynamic, with an over-the-top gut-punching presentation. If you have suggestions, let me know so I can start sending emails.

We’re pleased to hear you’re hyped for Spatial Audio and hope that you’re reading our Spatial Audio File column on soundandvision.com to get reviews of new releases in that format. Apple Music doesn’t provide us with an extended schedule of which albums are going to be released in Spatial Audio, so we can’t confirm if

Dark Side of the Moon and Toys in the Attic are in the queue. Albums that have previously been mixed in 5.1 surround do seem to suddenly pop up on the service, however, so there’s a good chance we’ll see both of those at some point (fingers crossed!). As for getting in touch with the company to make requests, there’s a Feedback option on the Apple Music web app that lets you send messages to the service directly.
