Courtney Ellis is The Tribune’s student of the week

Congratula­tions to Courtney Ellis of John Adams High School. She was voted by Tribune readers as the South Bend Tribune Student of the Week for March 29.

Courtney Ellis. John Adams High

School: Courtney is an outstandin­g student. She is involved in Science Olympiad, African Student Associatio­n, Spanish Honor Society and is the president of the Internatio­nal Student Organizati­on.

On top of that, she is doing dual enrollment at Ivy Tech and will earn her associate’s degree in medical assistance. Courtney has a 4.195 G.P.A. and is ranked 26th in her class. She works part time to help out.

Courtney is outgoing, very responsibl­e and deserves to be recognized for her hard work. Her parents are African immigrants that came to this country for a better life for their kids.

Micah Cowells, Clay High School: Micah is highly active in restorativ­e justice and student council.

Nominee: Tristan Jacobs, Penn High School

Tristan Jacobs, Penn High School: Tristan Jacobs is a senior earning both his associate’s degree from Ivy Tech and the highest diploma at Penn, both with honors. In fact, this past semester he earned a GPA of 4.42 because of all of his weighted classes. He is conscienti­ous and kind to all students, quietly leading by example. He is also versatile, participat­ing in both boy’s track & field and Penn Choir for multiple years. He is a wonderful example of what an exceptiona­l student looks like in and out of the classroom.
