Concord, Warsaw boys tie, Warsaw wins girls title

Concord won six events and Warsaw won five events as the two teams tied for the boys track and field Northern Lakes Conference Meet team title, 166.5-166.5, Wednesday night at Warsaw. Mishawaka finished third with 96 points.

The pole vault competitio­n ran to late on Wednesday and had to be completed Thursday evening. Concord led by 10 points at that point, but then Warsaw’s Matt Marsh claimed the pole vault title Thursday to clinch the tie.

Concord’s Jaron Thomas won the 100 in 10.87 and anchored the winning 4x100 relay team (42.78). Teammate Jackson Yoder won the 800 (1:58.30) and ran the opening leg of the winning 4x400 relay (3:23.77). Char’rese Breveard won the long jump (21-4.5) and ran a leg of the 4x100 relay. Joseph Moon won the 400 (50.26) and ran a leg of the 4x100.

Mishawaka’s Skyler VanSkyhawk swept the hurdles — 110 (15.15) and 300 (39.96). Liam Bauschke won the 3,200 (9:23.21) for the Cavemen and Brady Newsome won the 200 (22.10).

Warsaw wins girls track NLC meet

Warsaw won six events to outdistanc­e Concord, 162.5-99.5, in the girls track and field Northern Lakes Conference Meet at Warsaw High School Wednesday night.

Area winners include Jersey Hunter of Plymouth in the 100 hurdles (15.45), Dakotah Moore of Northridge in the 1,600 (5:13.68), NorthWood’s 4x100 relay team of Anna Roeder, Kady Hutsell, Hannah Chupp and Elayna Yoder (49.92), Kristina Petkova of Goshen in the 200 (25.31), Sophie Wray of Plymouth in the 3,200 (11:28.72), Claire Payne of NorthWood in the high jump (5-0) and Dea ana Emerson of Concord in the long jump 15-10.

There were three new meet records in the NLC girls meet.
