MIAMI — After suffering a gut-wrenching loss the night before, the Marlins were able to bounce back — thanks in part to some much-needed reinforcements.

In his first game off the disabled list, Martín Prado delivered a bases-clearing double in the fifth to help Miami race past the Blue Jays, 6-3. On Friday, the Marlins coughed up a 5-1 ninth-inning lead, falling 6-5.

Prado finished the night 1 for 4 with three RBI. The veteran third baseman had been on the DL since Aug. 13 after straining his left quad against the Braves.

Lewis Brinson — the team’s Opening Day starter in center field — also made his return on the first day of September call-ups. The Coral Springs alum finished 1 for 4 on the night. The rookie had been on the disabled list since July 4 with a hip injury. On Saturday, MLB teams were allowed to expand their active rosters from 25 to 40.

On the mound, Wei-Yin Chen continued his dominance at Marlins Park, allowing one earned run in eight innings. The lefty gave up just three hits and struck out seven. With Saturday night’s performance, Chen lowered his home ERA to 1.77 in 12 starts.

The Marlins jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after the first three batters of the game reached base. Clean- up hitter Brian Anderson was inches away from a grand slam, but settled for a sacrifice fly after his shot fell just short on the rightfield warning track.

Miami tacked on another in the third after JT Realmuto blasted a 411-foot solo homer. It was his 18th home run of the season, marking a new career high.

In the fifth inning, the Marlins blew it open. Heading to the plate with the bases loaded once again, Anderson drew a walk to drive in another run — his 58th RBI of the season. Prado then delivered with his bases-clearing double to give the Marlins a commanding fiverun lead.
