Mediterranean estate with ‘Old World charm’
Anna Kournikova’s former Miami Beach home lists for $14 million
A 6,630-square-foot Miami Beach mansion with two guesthouses recently hit the market, priced at $14.25 million. The home was previously owned by Anna Kournikova, the retired tennis star and longtime partner of singer Enrique Iglesias.
The two-story mansion, at 2345 Lake Ave., is located on Sunset III, one of the four Sunset Islands in Miami Beach, which are centrally located and offer privacy and exclusivity to residents. Entrance to the gated island is via North Bay Road.
The eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom Mediterranean estate is nestled on a 19,281-square-foot waterfront lot. It was built in 2000 by Bart Reines, a luxury homebuilder in Miami Beach, and features spacious formal dining and family rooms, vaulted ceilings, an oversized island kitchen with breakfast area, and a master suite complete with private balcony, snack bar and his-and-hers, walk-in closets.
The exterior boasts 156 feet on the water, a
dock, pool, spa and a covered entertainment area with built-in barbecue and kitchen. There is a twostory guesthouse overlooking the pool, as well as an additional guesthouse with a kitchenette and service quarters. The main house has six bedrooms.
“There are very few homes now on the market that have traditional architecture,” said Jorge Uribe, senior vice president of ONE Sotheby’s International Realty in Coral Gables, who holds the listing. “Everyone got on the modern bandwagon, but this house has old-world charm.”
Uribe said the lot has more linear feet on the water than other houses on Sunset III, which allows the owner to dock a boat on the side of the property and not block views.
“In the $10 million to $15 million range, you won’t find this kind of water view and location,” he said.
Uribe thinks the house will sell to someone who plans to occupy it as his or her principal residence. “The last four showings were to people relocating from the Northeast because of the tax situation,” he said.
Public records indicate the current owner of the property is MB Lake Avenue Property LLC, which purchased the property in August 2015, for $9 million. Kournikova purchased the home in 2000 for $5 million and sold it in January 2012 for $7.425 million.
