Cardinals: Tyler O’Neill’s walkoff home run with two outs in the 10th rescued a 5-4 win over the Giants. Yadier Molina also homered for the Cards, who won for the fifth time in six games to remain in the thick of the playoff hunt. O’Neill’s blast off Mark Melancon gave the Cardinals their 11th walk-off win of the season. Adam Wainwright, in his third start since elbow inflammati­on put him on the DL, gave up four runs on eight hits in 61⁄ innings. He struck out six and

3 did not walk a batter. Giants starter Dereck Rodriguez, son of Hall of Fame C Ivan Rodriguez, gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings. He struck out two and walked one.

Nationals: Rookie RHP Austin Voth and four relievers combined on a one-hitter as the Nationals blanked the Mets 6-0 hours after they were eliminated from playoff contention. Matt Wieters and Trea Turner homered for the Nats, whose wild-card hopes ended when the Cardinals won. Voth allowed only an infield single to Michael Conforto.

Blue Jays: Rookie LHP Thomas Pannone won his third straight start, Rowdy Tellez homered and drove in three runs and the Blue Jays beat the Rays 5-2. Tommy Pham and Jesus Sucre homered for the Rays, who began the day 61⁄ games behind the A’s in the AL wild-card race with eight games remaining.

Yankees: Aaron Hicks’ secondinni­ng home run against the Orioles gave the Yankees their 250th of the season, becoming the sixth team in history to reach that milestone. The last team to do it was the 2016 Orioles, who hit 253. The record is held by the 1997 Mariners (264), followed by the ’05 Rangers (260), the ’10 Blue Jays (257) and the ’96 Orioles (257).

A’s: Encouraged by the results of LHP Sean Manaea’s arthroscop­ic shoulder surgery, the A’s aren’t ruling him out for 2019. “The surgery went well enough that there’s some hope that potentiall­y he could pitch next year, later on in the season,” manager Bob Melvin said.
