Cardinal Gibbons star DL Bogle will play for Alabama

- By Adam Lichtenstein

Cardinal Gibbons defensive lineman Khris Bogle will join Braylen Ingraham as Broward County defensive linemen in Tuscaloosa.

The four-star prospect committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide live on NBC during the All-American Game on Saturday.

Bogle chose the Crimson Tide over Florida, Miami and Tennessee.

Bogle, the No. 1 player in Broward County in the Sun Sentinel’s 2019 rankings, finished his senior season with 54 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks despite missing the Chiefs’ first six games.

Bogle was a first-team All-County selection and is rated the No. 57 prospect in the 2019 class and the No. 3 weak-side defensive end by 247Sports’ composite ranking.

Another Miami Hurricanes target, Miami Southridge defensive back Tyrique Stevenson, also chose a Southeastern Conference school, committing to the Georgia Bulldogs over the Hurricanes.

Stevenson is the No. 38 player in the class and the No. 4 cornerback in the class.

Mullen makes biggest local impact: The three Broward County players on the field at the All-American Bowl — Bogle, Chaminade-Madonna’s Keontra

Smith and Coconut Creek’s Tiawan Mullen — got their chances to make plays on Saturday.

All three played for the victorious Team East, which won 48-14 over Team West.

Mullen, an Indiana Hoosiers signee, had three tackles and a pass breakup that he nearly intercepted. But Mullen also was the main defender on both of Team West’s touchdowns. He had a 13-yard punt return.

Smith had a pair of tackles, a pass deflection and a forced fumble.
