JR Friend has been named as the director of golf at Boca West Country Club, to oversee a golf staff of up to 65 people during season. Friend has worked with Boca West Country Club’s golf department for 26 years, starting as an intern and working his way to the head golf professional, a position which he has held for the last 20 years.
Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa announced the appointments of Matthew Gale as executive sous chef, Michael Vitetta as banquet chef and Michael
Bernales as resort beverage manager and sommelier. The resort also promoted Zsolt Neuwirth to manager of Angle, and Joe
Oesterwind to PM sous chef at Temple Orange Mediterranean Bistro.
Human resources
Aimee Mangold was named the HR Professional of the Year by the Human Resources Association of Palm Beach County. Mangold is vice president of human resources for Kolter Hospitality. She has over 20 years of experience in HR including with The Procaccianti Group and Interstate Hotels, where she held various roles as area director of human resources, regional director of human resources and regional trainer. Mangold is the incoming president of HRPBC for 2019-2020.
Medical
Sports medicine physician Leonardo Oliveira,
M.D., F.A.C.P., has joined Cleveland Clinic Florida’s Coral Springs Family Health Center, where he will co-lead the Sports Medicine Department.
Dr. Ana Sandoval Leon,
a medical oncologist specializing in the treatment of breast cancer, has joined Miami Cancer Institute. Additionally, Sandoval Leon serves as an editorial reviewer for Practice Update — Metastatic Breast Cancer.
Edward G. Sabin of Tequesta is the newest commissioner appointed to the Board of the Health Care District of Palm Beach County. Sabin is chief operating officer of Southern Implants North America, Inc. Additionally, The Health Care District Board meeting, which was held jointly with the Lakeside Health Advisory Board that guides the District’s rural, acute-care teaching hospital in Belle Glade, recognized two outgoing Lakeside Health Advisory Board members, Donia Roberts, former chair, and Angela K. Pope, for their respective eight years of dedicated, volunteer service and leadership.
High school sports
Dave Dunn has been hired as new Head Varsity Football Coach at Columbus High School in Miami. For the past two seasons, Dunn has worked as offensive coordinator at Colby College in Maine.
Real estate
Christel Silver, broker, owner of Silver International Realty in Delray Beach, has received the At Home With Diversity certification from the National Association of Realtors and has been approved to teach the course to other Realtors. The course teaches Realtors how to assess and understand attributes of diversity in local markets and their impact on the real estate industry, and explains the basic competencies to earn the confidence of potential buyers and sellers, regardless of race, eth- nicity, religion, gender, handicaps, familial status, or national origin.

Dori Foster-Morales, managing partner of Foster-Morales Sockel-Stone LLC, will serve as president of the 106,000-member organization in 2020-2021. Foster-Morales, a family law attorney who chairs the Committee on Mental Health and Wellness of Florida Lawyers, will be sworn in as president-elect at the June 2019 Annual Convention in Boca Raton, when current President-elect John Stewart takes the oath as president. Foster-Morales will begin her one-year term as president in June 2020.

Reid Burman Lebedeker Xenick announced that trial attorney Dean Xenick has joined the firm as a named partner. Miami Mayor Francis
Suarez has been appointed to the National League of Cities' Task Force on Housing, a group tasked with addressing how communities can better respond to the growing challenge of housing availability, investment and quality. Additionally, The National League of Cities has appointed city of Sunrise Deputy Mayor
Mark Douglas to the 2019 Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations federal advocacy committee. Douglas was elected to the city of Sunrise Commission in November 2016. He is also a member of the Broward County Consumer Protection Board, the Board of the Broward League of Cities, and most recently was appointed to the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust as a member of the Board of Trustees.
Stephanie Severino has been appointed director of communications for the City of Miami. Severino joined the city in 2018 as deputy director of communications.
