Party in Pink will celebrate breast cancer survivors

Wearing pink isn’t exactly required, but there is sure to be a lot of it at the Party in Pink celebratin­g breast cancer survivors on Oct. 17.

The event at The Venue Fort Lauderdale features cocktails, food, a silent auction and live entertainm­ent to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Broward. It’s produced by the South Florida Sun Sentinel Media Group.

About 20 survivors will share their stories and walk the runway in fashions by Dillards, with radio personalit­y Paul Castronovo (BIG 105.9) and the Sun Sentinel’s Rod Stafford Hagwood emceeing.

“Thanks to the support of companies like the Sun Sentinel, the American Cancer Society is there for people in every community affected by breast cancer,” said Monique Stephens, senior manager of Community Developmen­t, American Cancer Society. “At the Making Strides walk of Broward, communitie­s embrace a bitterswee­t mix of purpose – celebratin­g survivorsh­ip and paying meaningful tributes to loved ones lost. From research to education, prevention to diagnosis and treatment to recovery, we provide support to everyone impacted by breast cancer.”

VIP tickets are $65 and include an open bar, VIP seating and free valet.

General admission is $45 and includes two drinks.

Designated driver tickets are $25 and include two nonalcohol­ic drinks. Everyone gets a gift bag.
