One Florida hotel makes Fodor’s list of US’ 15 best

One hotel in Florida has made Fodor’s newest list of the top 15 hotels in the United States.

The Life House hotel in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood, dubbed a “cheap & chic” pick, offers travelers a retro slice of the tropics in a rapidly gentrifying area.

Rooms at the salmoncolored spot, which bills itself as “a culturally curated tropical mansion with a plant-driven café,” can be had for under $100 a night in the summer.

Though landlocked, once-quiet Little Havana has seen an uptick in development in recent years.

New restaurants and bars keep sprouting up in the area surrounding the hotel. Guests can easily get to “salsa nights at Ball & Chain, scoops of homemade ice cream at Azucar, speakeasy cocktails at Los Altos, and bites from Chef Michelle Bernstein at Café La Trova,” according to Fodor’s.

“It also delivers what other Miami hotels don’t: a boutique experience on a budget,” Fodor’s says.

Reviewers call the Little Havana location of Life House “adorable,” “hip” and “stylish,” although others complained about bad customer service or said the neighborhood didn’t feel safe.

The vibe is cool hideaway, with adult bunk beds, a rooftop bar, and shady courtyard with hammocks.

Life House has two additional locations in Miami Beach, with a third planned for next year. The chain also expanded to Denver this year and plans additional hotels in 2020 in Nantucket and in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood.

The travel publication on Tuesday released its picks for “The 100 Most Incredible Hotels in the World,” which includes the top 15 in the United States.
