Supporters of the sold-out scramblestyle golf outing to benefit the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium in West Palm Beach had two goals in mind: to get a hole-in-one and enjoy a nice glass of wine afterward.

The “Nine and Wine” benefit, which took place at Palm Beach Par 3 Golf

Course, served as a kickoff for the center’s annual Conservation Cup tournament set for Monday, Oct. 28 at Mayacoo Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach.

“We look forward to this event every year,” Science Center CEO Kate Arrizza said in a statement. “It’s a hole-in-one way to raise money for all our ongoing projects and continue opening every mind to science. We are grateful to our generous sponsors who have been supporting this event for many years.”

“Nine and Wine” began with a women’s golf clinic with golf professionals Kellie Stenzel and Christina Monacelli, according to organizers. Chairwomen were Cari Rentas, Carolyn Sasso, Rebecca Seelig and Kellie Stenzel.

Other committee members were Tonya Love Cheatham, Shani Core, Kathleen Crampton, Kristen Kelly Fisher, Nadine Fite, Micah Ford, Marcy Hoffman, Sunni Johnson, Brandy J. Lowe, Heather Neville, Carrie Perry, Alice Randolph, Christy Sheehan, Liza Smith and Nancy Wildrick.

Supporters attended an awards ceremony and an evening reception at Al Fresco after the nine-hole scramble.

In its eighth year, the Conservation Cup is an 18-hole tournament that includes lunch, putting contest, cocktail party and awards presentation.
