Dental
Joe Cavaretta was appointed to lead Sunrise-based Dental Whale. He succeeds Founder
David Lopez, who remains as vision leader and chairman of the board. The company is a provider of practice management solutions and education, including marketing services, insurance claim processing, equipment repair, and CE credits, to independent dentists and DSOs. Cavaretta was vice president of sales for the U.S. dental business at Henry Schein.
Finance
BrightStar Credit Union appointed Neal Dietz as vice president of lending. For the past eight years, Dietz was vice president of lending for the Greater Iowa Credit Union.
Property & Casualty insurance executive Tracy Brown was named manager of the private client division at Century Risk Advisors Inc., headquartered in Boca Raton.
Medical
Dr. Joseph Ricotta of Delray Medical Center was named as a 2020 Clinical Operator of Experience with TCAR. The recognition is presented by Silk Road Medical, which manufactures the TCAR device for patient procedures and is given to select physicians throughout the country who have demonstrated clinical excellence and superior quality outcomes using TCAR to treat patients with carotid artery disease.
Eli Friedman joined the Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, part of Baptist Health South Florida. and is the medical director of sports cardiology, from Memorial Health System, where he was the chief of cardiac services at Memorial Regional Hospital and the system’s medical director of sports cardiology.
Alison Schneider, MD, a gastroenterologist at Cleveland Clinic Weston, was elected president of the
Florida Gastroenterologic Society.
The Florida Board of Nursing appointed Dr. Vicky Stone-Gale, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, practicing in Primary Care in Plantation, to a four-year term on the Council on Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Autonomous Practice. This council will develop standards of practice for adoption by rule to the Board of Nursing for APRNs who register for autonomous practice. Stone-Gale was registered as the first autonomous APRN in the state after meeting the legislative guidelines.

Chad Van Horn, founding partner of Van Horn Law Group P.A., received an Individual Hero Award at the 33rd annual National Philanthropy Day “Heroes Among Us” Virtual Awards Celebration hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Van Horn received this award for his long-time support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County. He has served on the Big Brothers Big Sisters executive committee for the past seven years, offering pro bono advice as legal counsel and strategic leadership as board vice chair. Last June, he stepped into the role of board chair.

Jay Boodheshwar joined the Oxbridge Academy Board of Trustees. Boodheshwar, whose children have graduated from the establishment, is the deputy town manager for the town of Palm Beach.
