Two reputed street gang members were among four men arrested during a probation violation roundup where deputies also confiscated several high-powered weapons, a bulletproof vest and illegal drugs, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Markei Malar Florence, 28, of Fort Lauderdale, and Amon Rah Dershod-Simmons, 21, of Miramar, were arrested Dec. 10 and are being held in the Broward County Jail without bond.
Both were at a Miramar home where deputies said they found and confiscated two rifles, a shotgun and a revolver during the arrests.
Florence is charged with grand theft, and possessing weapons and drugs. Dershod- Simmons is facing charges that include attempted murder, fleeing law enforcement officers, and a hit-and-run crash among others, records show.
Both are documented gang members, according to detectives.
Keith Christian, 34, and Claude Vile, 25, were arrested the same day for violating the terms of their probation.
Christian had a handgun, bullet-proof vest, ammunition and evidence of identity theft at his Hallandale Beach home. Vile had crack cocaine, cannabis and ammunition in his Hollywood home, detectives said.
Christian remains in jail without bond but Vile was released on his own recognizance for violating the terms of his previous house arrest, records show.
Several agencies assisted the Broward Sheriff ’s Office in the sweep including police from Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, and Lauderhill, Homeland Security Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
