Can I reschedule my second shot date?
By Lois K. Solomon
Q. “How do I change the date for my second shot?” — Robert Mills, Fort Lauderdale
It depends where you got your first dose. Some vaccination centers allow you to cancel and reschedule appointments online, including Cleveland
Clinic (my.clevelandclinic.org/ online-services/mychart) and Broward Health (browardhealth.org/pages/ reschedule-covid).
At Broward’s public sites, you don’t have to officially cancel, but to reschedule, you can call their appointment number, 866-201-6313.
Palm Beach County’s sites also will work with you if you need to reschedule, spokeswoman Robin Kish said.
“Based on vaccine availability and how far in advance we receive the request, we try to accommodate on a case by case basis if possible,” she said. Call 561-8044115..
Q. “I’m 83 and had my first shot (terrible reaction). My live-in helper is 57 but is diabetic and asthmatic. Can she get the shot to protect us both or does she have to wait until she’s 65?”

Unfortunately your aide’s role does not qualify her for a shot, although there are some hospitals that are vaccinating people with serious health conditions such as those you listed. Her colleagues are starting to mobilize to get vaccines to home health care workers; the Home Care Association of Florida sent a letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis on Feb. 9 to urge him to designate home caregivers as frontline health care workers who should be vaccinated now.
There also could be hope for her in the next phase of Florida’s vaccine rollout. DeSantis said on Feb. 24 that Floridians as young as 55 could get their shots soon, although he did not say when that would be.
