BOYNTON BEACH — A mobile messaging app popular with teens and tweens was used by a Boynton Beach man to share child pornography, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Ian David Hann, 35, is facing two dozen charges for possession of child pornography shared through the KIK Messenger app, detectives said.
KIK company officials detected 12 illegal files from the same user in December. KIK shut down the account and reported it to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Between Dec. 7 and 10,
Hann shared files of children involved in sex acts, according to the arrest report. Investigators were able to trace his email, phone number and Boynton Beach address through his registration information on various accounts.
Detectives served a search warrant at Hann’s home Thursday. During questioning, investigators said Hann admitted to sharing between 25 and 50 files through KIK Messenger groups to obtain child pornography from other users.
Hann was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on bonds totaling $160,000, records show.
