Jill Sears was named assistant director for the Broward County Libraries Division. She was the acting assistant director. Sears joined Broward County Library in 2006 and worked as a library regional manager for the Main Library and regional manager for the Library’s South Cluster, which includes 11 library locations.
Hospitality
Adriana Vellojin is general manager at the recently opened AC Hotel Miami Dadeland. Ryan Shafi is director of operations, and Irma Salinas is food and beverage manager.
Pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith is now the pastry director of David Grutman’s Groot Hospitality, where she oversees the development of pastry menus at new restaurants and pastry menu evolution at existing restaurants.
Goldsmith is the founder of the at-home baking business, Sweet Hedy.

Tropic Survival promoted Jason Ibarra from digital director to vice president/agency director, in North Miami.

Gilda’s Club South Florida, an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, promoted Belinda Paulicin from director of program services to vice president of programs and services in Fort Lauderdale.
Family Promise North Central Palm Beach County announced its new Executive Director, Tomara Graham Mays. Recently, Graham-Mays was at Easterseals Florida.

Dr. Jordan P. Steinberg, pediatric plastic, craniomaxillofacial and orthognathic surgeon, was appointed surgical director of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Craniofacial Center. Steinberg comes from Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, where he was director of pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgery.
Technology
Xendoo, a Fort Lauderdale-based fintech startup delivering intelligent automation in the online and bookkeeping space for small-business owners, announced that Kristen Reineke and Andrew Bennett have joined as director of partnerships and director of operations, respectively.

Angelica Żołnierowicz joined the commercial litigation practice group of Conrad & Scherer’s Fort Lauderdale office.
Government Law Group announced that Parkland Commissioner Jordan B.
Isrow joined the practice as a partner. He will focus his practice on complex litigation, corporate counseling and representation of municipalities. Isrow joins GLG after serving as general counsel of Oxygen Development LLC, an international cosmetics contract manufacturer. He also serves as District 2 commissioner for the city of Parkland.
Fox Rothschild LLP’s Carol E. Thorstad-Forsyth was appointed as chair of the American Intellectual Property Law Association Women in IP Law Committee through October 2023. The Women in IP Law Committee creates community and develops content to facilitate its members’ professional development in the areas of retention and advancement, outreach, personal and professional development, and presence and branding.
Environmental
West Palm Beach’s Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and chief executive officer of American Humane, the national humane organization, was awarded the 18th annual international “Gorilla Prize” for her efforts to conserve endangered species and ensure Earth’s biodiversity for future generations, presented by Loro Parque, founder of the Loro Parque Fundación.
Ganzert launched the worldwide Humane Conservation program, dedicated to helping preserve disappearing species by ensuring high, science-based standards of welfare for the millions of animals in the world’s zoos, aquariums and conservation centers that are serving as arks of hope for rare and endangered creatures.

Michaela Gack, Ph.D., scientific director of Cleveland Clinic’s Florida Research and Innovation Center, received a National Institutes of Health Director’s Pioneer Award to support her research toward the development of broad-spectrum antiviral drugs. The Pioneer Award, established in 2004, challenges investigators from across all disciplines to pursue new research directions and develop groundbreaking, high-impact approaches to a broad area of biomedical, behavioral, or social science.
