A 12,641-square-foot mansion in Palm Beach has all the appointments a luxury buyer would expect of a home listed for $29.5 million, but it offers a history or architecture buff even more value: design elements by American architect Marion Sims Wyeth.

According to the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, Wyeth was known for the variety of styles in which he designed — from Art Deco to Mediterranean Revival and classical Georgian, French and Colonial.

The listed home, at 125 Via Del Lago, was built in 1928 and has landmark status.

According to the listing agent, Suzanne Frisbie, a broker-associate with The Corcoran Group in Palm Beach, the home, which was fully renovated in 2018, still bears classic Wyeth elements, including a 25-foot ceiling in the living room with stenciled pecky cypress beams and a coquina-clad fireplace.

“This is a quintessential Wyeth,” Frisbie said. “It has a lot of the architectural details that Wyeth is known for. It has an old-world feel to it.”

The gated “Palm Beach Mediterranean” home has eight bedrooms, nine full and two half baths, three fireplaces, an elevator, two enclosed galleries and a wine cellar.

It sits on a 36,155-squarefoot lot within walking distance of the ocean. The two-story main house and separate guest house are surrounded by lush landscaping and garden views, and the property has deeded beach access.

The current owner, a limited liability company based in Providence, Rhode Island, purchased the property in July 2019 for $16.1 million. Frisbie said the owners are selling because they’re interested in purchasing a waterfront property.

“This house presents the perfect opportunity to marry Palm Beach history with today’s living,” Frisbie said. “And to find a piece of ground that is over 36,000 square feet in Palm Beach is incredibly rare.”
