Thankful Thursdays help clients prepare for work
Students of the Beauty Anatomy Institute in Pompano Beach are using their hair, nails and skin care skills to help clients of local nonprofits serving homeless and transitioning populations, including Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Covenant House and SOS Next Steps.
The Thankful Thursdays program began two years ago as a monthly event and expanded to take place on at least two Thursdays and two Wednesday nights each month. The year-round program has served hundreds of men and women, both children and adults. Many of the clients are looking for jobs and some come in the day before an interview to look their best.
“Thankful Thursday for our organization provides our consumers with a sense of confidence they are able to enter any room head held high because they are well groomed,” said Next Steps Director LaShonda Cross in a statement.
Another philanthropy program the Beauty Anatomy Institute has planned for August has a Back-to-School theme. Students and teachers with a valid ID can get free haircuts by appointment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays this month.
