Thank­ful Thurs­days help clients pre­pare for work

Stu­dents of the Beauty Anatomy In­sti­tute in Pom­pano Beach are us­ing their hair, nails and skin care skills to help clients of lo­cal non­prof­its serv­ing home­less and tran­si­tion­ing populations, in­clud­ing Broward Part­ner­ship for the Home­less, Covenant House and SOS Next Steps.

The Thank­ful Thurs­days pro­gram be­gan two years ago as a monthly event and ex­panded to take place on at least two Thurs­days and two Wed­nes­day nights each month. The year-round pro­gram has served hun­dreds of men and women, both chil­dren and adults. Many of the clients are look­ing for jobs and some come in the day be­fore an in­ter­view to look their best.

“Thank­ful Thurs­day for our or­ga­ni­za­tion pro­vides our con­sumers with a sense of con­fi­dence they are able to en­ter any room head held high be­cause they are well groomed,” said Next Steps Di­rec­tor LaShonda Cross in a state­ment.

An­other phi­lan­thropy pro­gram the Beauty Anatomy In­sti­tute has planned for Au­gust has a Back-to-School theme. Stu­dents and teach­ers with a valid ID can get free hair­cuts by ap­point­ment on Tues­days, Wed­nes­days and Fri­days this month.
