Potential defense for ousted FBI agent

Objecting to calling female candidate ‘attractive’

I was surprised to read the word “attractive” in your endorsement of Ashley Moody on Aug. 12: (“Ashley Moody.. is smart, attractive and well spoken”).

If being attractive makes one suitable for office, will you then describe as “ugly” those candidates whom you don't support? Perhaps I missed it, but I've not read any endorsements of male candidates in your paper that mentioned their good looks.

It’s 2018. Can we focus on what women have to offer in terms of experience and character, and not focus on their appearance? Laura Carver, Pembroke Pines

Climate change action needed

The evidence for humaninduced climate change is overwhelming. Our carbon emissions are going through the roof and our time to stop climate change is slowly disappearing from our grasps.

However, as John F. Kennedy once said, “Our problems are man-made, therefore they may only be solved by man.” Fortunately for us, there is a way to make sure that we can reduce the rate of climate change, and that solution lies in the carbon fee and dividend.

The carbon fee and dividend policy proposal is intended to charge producers for the costs of burning fossil fuels. Economists say it is the best first step to reduce the risk of catastrophic climate change.

Solving climate change is not something that will be easy. But clean air and water is something that nobody should have to fight for. And now is the time to act. Aryan Ranjan, Boca Raton

I am not a lawyer, but I would recommend that (former) FBI Agent Peter Strzok, claim that every time he referenced Mr. Trump in a text, it was simply “Locker-room talk.” Heck, it worked for the president. He could also use the trusty standby, “Fake news.” Victor Klusner,

Disputing tax recommendation

Regarding the Aug. 9 editorial that Broward voters should approve a tax increase — nonsense. The Sun Sentinel is playing games with its readership.

The referendum is allowing all voters to approve an ad valorem tax increase, rather than asking property owners to approve annual ad valorem budget increases.

The referendum assumes there will be no funding increases from the state during the next four years.
