Cooper The Miami Dolphins have selected SAVE Executive Director Tony Lima as the recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award, at a recent Business Equality Network luncheon sponsored by SAVE and the Miami Dolphins. The award, in conjunction with the NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, recognizes the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market. Lima will receive his trophy and $2,000 donation to SAVE at the Miami Dolphins home game against the Oakland Raiders on Sept. 23, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. Armstrong

Thomas Oliveri, senior market executive of Broward County for The Northern Trust Co., recently became the new board chair of the Memorial and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundations. The board is composed primarily of regional business leaders, physicians, and senior executives dedicated to raising money to support the mission of the Memorial Healthcare System. For Oliveri, the opportunity to serve on the board is not just good business, it’s about giving back. He and his family members were born at Memorial Regional Hospital. And when his oldest son was a newborn, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital played a significant role in his care.

Why join: I’ve been on the foundation’s board of directors for 10 years and it’s important that we continue to provide the necessary support to the hospital’s mission of providing highquality, comprehensive patient and family-centered care for the community.
Top goal: On the children’s side, we’re focused on supporting the expansion of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, both in Hollywood, with a four-story addition to the facility we opened in 2011, and in Palm Beach County with the opening of a specialty center in Wellington. Advice to young professionals looking for community engagement experiences: Participate in an organization that mirrors your personal goals and interests and align yourself with the mission of the organization. The money and/or time you contribute has a lasting impact in the community, so it’s important to stay engaged.
Wisdom: Being a great listener and problem solver are critical to providing clients with thoughtful, objective, and holistic advice that helps them meet long and short-term goals. of interest include autoimmune disease of the nervous system, infusion therapies, multiple sclerosis, neurological infections and neuromyelitis optica. Miller is board-eligible in neurosurgery. His special areas of interest include brain surgery, functional neurosurgery and spine surgery.

Tom Veenstra has been appointed vice president of administration at CareerSource Palm Beach County, the nonprofit organization chartered by the state of Florida to lead workforce development in Palm Beach County. In his new position, Veenstra will lead the operations of five departments — Communications, Information Technology, Performance Analysis, Legal Services, and Facilities. He serves as the Chief Communications Officer for all organizational issues/events and federal/ state/local employment issues. He also oversees state/local workforce plans and developments in federal/state laws and regulations that affect workforce agencies. Veenstra previously was senior director of support services. He joined the organization as its communications director in 2011.

The Institute for Regional Conservation, a nonprofit in Delray Beach dedicated to the protection, restoration, and long-term management of biodiversity, announced that Allison Turner, owner and CEO of BCoSF Media and Business Consultants of South Florida, has joined their board of directors.

One Thousand Museum Residences by Zaha Hadid Architects announced the appointment of Jason Kaye as the property’s general manager in Miami. Kaye’s extensive experience includes in 2011, when he joined Marquis Association Management as the director of operations, where he oversaw multiple luxury condominiums.
Kolter Homes, a division of The Kolter Group, announced that Wayne Soojian has joined as its business unit manager for South Florida. Soojian will oversee the development and success of ALTON, open and manage Artistry Palm Beach and work with the Kolter Homes executive team to identify future opportunities across South Florida.
Surveying, mapping
The GPServ, Inc. announced that Yesenia Diaz-Adams was named as a sales representative for Geographic Information Systems Mapping Sales for the South Florida region. Diaz-Adams joined the company in 2017 and spent most of the year establishing her territory and cultivating new business relationships in GPServ’s targeted industries. Prior to joining GPServ Diaz-Adams spent 18 years in various sales, support and management roles for Trimble Navigations GeoSpatial Division.

Calaveras Cantina has named Angelo Arboleda executive chef, in Jupiter. Arboleda began his career as a line cook at Cucina del’Arte, now Cucina Palm Beach. He worked at Café Boloud, Chez Jean-Pierre Bistro, and The Woods Jupiter.
Seminole Casino Coconut Creek has named Earl Govenor as its new Executive Sous Chef and Paul Youngstrand as NYY Steak Chef. Prior to joining Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Govenor worked at a number of Las Vegas-based properties including the Mirage Casino, All Star Cafe, Silverton Casino and Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino. Govenor was a banquet cook at the Mirage for four years, prior to becoming the kitchen manager at All Star Cafe. At Silverton Casino, Govenor was the executive room chef for 11 years. Youngstrand is responsible for the daily culinary operations of the property’s fine dining restaurant, while overseeing a team of professionals. He was chef at the property’s Fresh Harvest restaurant for two years before moving to NYY Steak. Prior to joining Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Youngstrand spent six years in Las Vegas where he worked for the Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino and Twin Creeks Steakhouse in the Silverton Casino.
