Salvation Army looking for artist redesigners
Bruce Hecker, Leslie Alvarado Excell, Frances Herrera and Lance Hatch attend the Salvation Army’s 2017 Red Shield ReDesign Bash.
The Salvation Army of Broward County invites artists, designers, DIY hobbyists and home décor enthusiasts to restore, redesign, rehabilitate or repurpose furniture and home accessories to help homeless individuals in Broward County.
Redesigners will donate the pieces, which will be available for purchase, during the Salvation Army’s Sixth Annual Red Shield ReDesign Bash at The Galleria in Fort Lauderdale on Oct. 19, from 6-9 p.m.
“This event is a labor of love with a commitment of time, hard work and creativity from our ReDesigners — they are stars and heroes for supporting our mission and those we serve,” said Major Keath Biggers, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Broward County.
The event will showcase furniture and home accessories that are transformed into one-of-a-kind art pieces. Following a VIP reception, event attendees will have the opportunity to bid on their favorite redesigned and repurposed items during the evening. Proceeds from the auction and event will support the many shelter, feeding, and case management programs at The Salvation Army of Broward County.
A panel of prominent community figures will judge and award entries in the categories of Most Collectible, Most Creative and Best Re-Purposing of Materials. The 2018 People’s Choice will be determined by those in attendance.
