Parents need to support gun control

South Florida Sun-Sentinel (Sunday) - - Voices & Opinion -

Here in Florida kids have already had 3 code red mass shooter drills. They hide in dark closets, under desks.

Kindergarteners are given lollipops to stay quiet and taught shooter drill "rules" to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. They are told not to open doors even if their friends are out there. Some are trained with bleed kits.

Instead of implementing common sense gun regulations, companies are capitalizing on the death of our children.

Insurance companies sell schools insurance policies based on their evaluations. Bulletproof backpacks and shields are touted. Bulletproof rooms and glass.

People think "not in my backyard." Admittedly, I was the same. Until it happened in my school.

Every parent from K-12 should sit on these code red drills. Because I’m here to tell ALL parents, in every community, rich, poor, black, white. It IS IN YOUR BACKYARD AND It IS AFFECTING YOUR CHILD – RIGHT NOW.
