Jason Chorlins, a principal at Kaufman Rossin, has been recognized recently for his professionalism. Kaufman Rossin, Mr. and Mrs. George Gulisano, and the FICPA Scholarship Foundation created the Jason A. Chorlins Endowment in recognition of Chorlins’ work for the Florida Institute of CPAs and his role as past president of Chorlins the foundation. Proceeds from the $25,000 endowment will provide annual scholarship funding for accounting students in Florida. Additionally, the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists named Chorlins as its AntiMoney Laundering Professional of the Year. Nahmad was named chair of the Institute’s board of directors. He succeeds S. Lawrence Kahn III, the Institute’s founding board chair and founder of Coral Gablesbased Lowell Homes, who recently passed away. Since 1973, Nahmad has been board chair and chief executive officer of Coconut Grove-based Watsco Inc., a distributor of air conditioning, heating and refrigeration products. Nahmad joins other board members: Phil Conway, secretary; Ronald A. Shuffield, treasurer; and Bruce Beal, John Dasburg, John Haley, Michele Kessler, Patrick P. Lee, Rudy Kranys, and the Rev. Dr. William White.
The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, part of Florida State University’s College of Business, has named Courtney Mickens associate director of its Palm Beach County Operations.
