The Miami Dolphins released reserve offensive tackle Sam Young on Saturday, and promoted defensive tackle Jamiyus Pittman to the active roster.

Young’s departure ensures offensive lineman Zach Sterup will serve as the Dolphins’ top backup at both offensive tackle positions Sunday when Miami faces the Chicago Bears at 1 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium.

Young, who has played in 23 games with seven starts for the Dolphins since 2016, has played sparingly in all five games for Miami this season.

Tunsil, who suffered a concussion in the game, has passed the NFL’s concussion protocol and is expected to play against the Bears.

Sterup, in his second season with the Dolphins, has been inactive in four of five games this season, making his lone appearance in the Week 4 loss at New England.

Pittman, an undrafted rookie out of UCF, becomes the Dolphins’ fourth defensive tackle on the roster. Pittman appeared in 49 games with 33 starts, and totaled 47 tackles (24 solo) and 4.5 sacks during his senior season.
