A 19-year-old North Lauderdale man is facing several charges after threatening to run over and then shoot a woman and two young children, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the arrest report, Jason Moise was driving recklessly in a maroon 2015 Chrysler 200 in a parking lot at 701 Rock Island Road in North Lauderdale on Oct. 19.

A woman told Moise to slow down because there were children playing nearby. He got angry, shifted the car into reverse and backed up toward the woman and two children with her.

Moise hit the brakes, got out and ran off. A woman passenger got into the driver’s seat and drove away, the report stated.

Moise returned a short time later with a handgun and threatened to shoot the woman and the two children, but when he heard police had been called he fired a single shot in the air and ran off again.

The woman was able to identify Moise and three other witnesses corroborated what happened.

He was arrested Thursday. A records check revealed Moise was on probation and had ten prior arrests for numerous felony firearms charges including carrying a concealed weapon in 2016 when he was a juvenile.

During questioning, Moise admitted to driving the Chrysler and arguing with the woman but said he only heard a gunshot and denied having a gun or trying to run down the woman and children, detectives said.

At his first court appearance Friday, Moise was ordered jailed without bond on charges that included aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon, and discharging a firearm in public among various probation violations, records show. Jason Moise, 19, of North Lauderdale, is accused of trying to run over a woman and two young children before running off then returning with a gun to shoot them, detectives said.
