Kathy Ross is the chief information officer for Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale. The role is critical, says Ross, who was previously with Stony Brook Medicine on Long Island, in New York, where she held the same job. CIOs ensure technology is used to support the organization’s business needs and strategies. Ross began her career in healthcare as a volunteer in her teens and later worked as a respiratory therapist. She got her start in the medical information technology sector at Cedars Medical Center in Miami, as part of a core group to develop electronic documentation.
