LEO A DALY Ar­chi­tect John Mezzetta, AIA was awarded the 2018 AIA Palm Beach Emerg­ing Pro­fes­sional Men­tor­ship Award. This award rec­og­nizes an ar­chi­tect who has shown un­wa­ver­ing com­mit­ment to Mezzetta men­tor­ing and de­vel­op­ing As­so­ciates and Emerg­ing Pro­fes­sion­als in his own firm or in Palm Beach County. MBAF an­nounced that Frank Gon­za­lez, prin­ci­pal-in-charge of the au­dit de­part­ment, has been hon­ored with Florida In­ter­na­tional Univer­sity’s Dis­tin­guished Alumni Award, for his com­mit­ment to the univer­sity and for his suc­cesses in his pro­fes­sion. Gon­za­lez The FIU Torch Award is the high­est honor be­stowed upon alumni by the FIU Alumni As­so­ci­a­tion. The Dis­tin­guished Alumni awards are pre­sented to alumni who have brought honor and dis­tinc­tion to the univer­sity through their no­table record of ser­vice and achieve­ment in a par­tic­u­lar dis­ci­pline, or­ga­ni­za­tion or cause.

Liza E. Smoker has joined the John J. Brunetti Hu­man Traf­fick­ing Academy at St. Thomas Univer­sity School of Law's LL.M./ J.S.D. Pro­gram in In­ter­cul­tural Hu­man Rights as its manag­ing di­rec­tor. Pre­vi­ously, Smoker was a part­ner at the law firm of Rogers, Mor­ris & Ziegler.

Fi­nance pro­fes­sional Randy Moreau has joined Kel­ley Kro­nen­berg’s fi­nan­cial man­age­ment team as chief ac­count­ing of­fi­cer, a new po­si­tion fo­cused on over­see­ing and de­vel­op­ing long-term fi­nan­cial strate­gies.

Lenny Fel­ber­baum, real es­tate bro­ker and owner of En­gel & Völk­ers Del­ray Beach, was for­mally in­ducted to En­gel & Völk­ers Pri­vate Of­fice, in­ter­na­tional net­work of real es­tate pro­fes­sion­als, at the cor­po­rate head­quar­ters in New York City. Dave Smith has joined the Fort Lauderdale-based agribusi­ness fo­cused on pro­duc­ing full spec­trum nat­u­ral hemp prod­ucts, SanSal Well­ness Holdings Inc., in the newly cre­ated po­si­tion of chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer. Smith has held var­i­ous ex­ec­u­tive man­age­ment po­si­tions in­clud­ing most re­cently as pres­i­dent of In­ter-Con­ti­nen­tal Cigar Corp., dis­trib­u­tor of Al Capone Ci­gar­il­los, from 2011–2018. Be­fore that he was pres­i­dent of JDS Con­sumer So­lu­tions, chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer of Pan­theon Chem­i­cal, and se­nior vice pres­i­dent and then COO of FB Foods Inc.

Cul­tural

Mi­ami City Bal­let an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Meghan Bulfin Mon­teiro as its De­vel­op­ment and Out­reach Man­ager in Palm Beach County. She comes from New York City, where she was most re­cently the in­di­vid­ual phi­lan­thropy man­ager for Rain­for­est Al­liance since 2016.

Lu­cas Aloisi is the new owner of the Bright­way In­sur­ance Agency in Park­land. He comes to Bright­way from MassMu­tual, where he worked in the fi­nan­cial plan­ning and in­sur­ance in­dus­try for the past two years.

Lib­erty SBF an­nounced that com­mer­cial real es­tate pro­fes­sional Bobby Cooper has joined the com­pany, to orig­i­nate loans in Florida. Cooper pre­vi­ously worked at Synovus Bank as a Com­mer­cial Lender in Or­lando. Prior to that, he was a busi­ness re­la­tion­ship man­ager at Chase Bank. Cooper started his bank­ing ca­reer as a se­nior lend­ing of­fi­cer at SunTrust Bank.

Med­i­cal

Teresa C. Urquhart re­turns to Palm Beach Gar­dens Med­i­cal Cen­ter as the hos­pi­tal’s chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer. She will be re­spon­si­ble for over­see­ing all strate­gic, op­er­a­tional and clin­i­cal ac­tiv­i­ties at the hos­pi­tal.

Palm Beach County Med­i­cal So­ci­ety in­stalled Dr. Marc Hirsh, of The Hirsh Cen­ter in Del­ray Beach, as pres­i­dent at the Kravis Cen­ter’s Co­hen Pav­il­ion. Hirsh will serve dur­ing a sig­nif­i­cant year for the or­ga­ni­za­tion, its 100-year cen­ten­nial. Ad­di­tion­ally, Hirsh the 2019 PBCMS Ex­ec­u­tive Com­mit­tee in­cludes the fol­low­ing physi­cians: Larry Bush, pres­i­den­t­elect; Roger Dun­can, vice-pres­i­dent; Clau­dia Ma­son, sec­re­tary; Dawn Da­vanzo, trea­surer; and Bran­don Luskin, im­me­di­ate past pres­i­dent. Gov. Rick Scott has ap­pointed Marie Waugh to the North Broward Hos­pi­tal Dis­trict Board of Com­mis­sion­ers for a term end­ing June 29, 2021. Waugh is the chief hu­man re­sources of­fi­cer for APTIM.

Health Foun­da­tion of South Florida, ded­i­cated to im­prov­ing health in Broward, Mi­ami-Dade and Mon­roe Coun­ties, has named Natalie K. Castel­lanos as di­rec­tor, pol­icy and pub­lic af­fairs. Prior to join­ing Health Foun­da­tion of South Florida, Castel­lanos was with Florida In­ter­na­tional Univer­sity’s Castel­lanos Green Fam­ily Foun­da­tion Neigh­bor­hood Health Ed­u­ca­tion Learn­ing Pro­gram, where she had a Urquhart dual ap­point­ment as an as­sis­tant pro­fes­sor at the med­i­cal school and as a clin­i­cal in­struc­tor and su­per­vis­ing at­tor­ney at the law school.

Del­ray Med­i­cal Cen­ter named Stephen Gar­ner as its chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer be­gin­ning in 2019, and he will also be the Group COO for Tenet Health’s Palm Beach hos­pi­tals. Gar­ner pre­vi­ously worked for sis­ter hos­pi­tal Abrazo Ar­row­head Hos­pi­tal, in Ari­zona, where he was the COO for the last Gar­ner

three years.

Cleve­land Clinic has an­nounced a new re­gional lead­er­ship struc­ture in Florida, an­tic­i­pated to be­gin in Jan­uary 2019. This new lead­er­ship team will pro­vide over­sight for its cur­rent Florida hos­pi­tal in Weston and its fa­cil­i­ties in­clud­ing Coral Springs Fam­ily Health Cen­ter, Palm Beach Gar­dens, Park­land, West Palm Beach, and Welling­ton and pend­ing reg­u­la­tory re­view and ap­proval, Mar­tin Health Sys­tem and In­dian River Med­i­cal Cen­ter. Un­der this new struc­ture, the cur­rent CEO and Pres­i­dent of Cleve­land Clinic Florida, Dr. Wael Bar­soum will be the CEO and pres­i­dent of the Cleve­land Clinic Florida re­gion. As a part of this new Cleve­land Clinic Florida struc­ture, the fol­low­ing po­si­tions have been de­vel­oped: Joseph Ian­notti, M.D., Ph.D., chair of Cleve­land Clinic’s Orthopaedic and Rheuma­to­logic In­sti­tute for nearly two decades, has been named chief of staff for the Cleve­land Clinic re­gion in Florida. Rodolfo J. Blan­don, M.D., who has been chief of staff in Weston, will be­come pres­i­dent of Cleve­land Clinic Florida in Weston. Gre­gory Rosen­crance, M.D., cur­rently chair­man of the Cleve­land Clinic’s Medicine In­sti­tute, will re­turn to Florida as pres­i­dent of In­dian River Med­i­cal Cen­ter upon the com­ple­tion of the reg­u­la­tory re­view process. Robert L. Lord, Jr. will con­tinue in his role as pres­i­dent of Mar­tin Health Sys­tem.
