- By Doug Phillips

Opportunistic thieves took advantage of a FedEx delivery driver’s brief maintenance stop and were able to get away with his truck and steal most of its contents.

It happened about 10 a.m. Tuesday in Delray Beach.

The FedEx driver had just delivered a package to a home on Southwest 15th Avenue, just east of I-95, when he noticed that his rear-view camera was cloudy — so he stepped outside to wipe the lens, Delray Beach police said.

“While standing on the back of the truck, he felt the vehicle move and saw two men in the cab,” police spokeswoman Dani Moschella said.

The driver scraped his elbow and knee when he fell off the moving truck that Two thieves stole this FedEx truck from Delray Beach Tuesday morning. It was later found by Broward deputies in Pompano Beach.

headed south on 15th Avenue and then east on Southwest Sixth Street.

The truck wouldn’t be lost for long. Its GPS technology tracked the vehicle to Pompano Beach where it was recovered by deputies from the Broward Sheriff ’s Office.

The two thieves were gone and so were most of the

packages inside the truck.

According to Moschella, the truck had been carrying more than 100 packages and when deputies recovered it there were only 58.
