SunServe Youth Department, that was recently awarded a Broward County Human Services Division Grant which focuses on the needs of LGBTQI+ youth, announced its recently expanded staff, including youth therapists Amanda Uliasz, Suzanne Peterson and Antwan McKenzie-Plez,all of whom began as interns in its mental health program, and Michael Alexander-Luz as lead youth therapist. Additionally, Whitney Boursiquot joins as the new life coach.

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP elected Jennifer Lawton Marquina to the partnership. Lawton Marquina is a former associate who joined the Firm in 2018 with the Broad and Cassel combination and practices in transactional real estate.

Gov. Rick Scott announced the following appointees to fill vacancies in circuit and county courts: In Miami-Dade County: Alexander Bokor to the Eleventh Circuit Court. Bokor, 40, of Miami, is a MiamiDade County Court Judge. Carlos Guzman is appointed to the Eleventh Circuit Court. Guzman, 48, of Coral Gables, is a Miami-Dade County Court Judge. Lody Jean is appointed to the Miami-Dade County Court. Jean, 4of Coral Gables, is president of the Law Office of Lody Jean. In Broward: Natasha DePrimo to the Broward County Court. DePrimo, of Davie, is a senior attorney at the Florida Department of Transportation. Frank Ledee is appointed to the Seventeenth Circuit Court. Ledee, of Hollywood, is an Assistant State Attorney for the Eleventh Circuit State Attorney’s Office. Vegina Hawkins is appointed to the Seventeenth Circuit Court. Hawkins, of West Park, is an Assistant State Attorney for the Seventeenth Circuit State Attorney’s Office. In Palm Beach County: Paige Hardy Gillmanto the Palm Beach County Court. Gillman, of Palm Beach Gardens, is an attorney with the Law Office of Hugh Behan.

Medical

Michelle Boggs has been appointed president of Nicklaus Children's Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of Nicklaus Children's Health System. Boggs joined the health system in 2018 as executive director for Nicklaus Children's Hospital Foundation, assuming responsibility for community relations, stewardship, annual giving and donor relations.

Before joining the foundation, Boggs worked for 12 years in various leadership roles with the American Heart Association, most recently, as national market development director. Board-certified radiation oncologist Joseph Panoff, M.D., has joined Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health South Florida and Florida’s only member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance. Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Panoff worked first as a faculty member at the Sylvester Cancer Center/ Jackson Memorial Hospital, and then as a medical director of Radiation Oncology at 21st Century Oncology in Key West.

TransMedia Group in Boca Raton has appointed Justin Bordeaux as vice president of communication design.

Moore announced that Meredith Westheimer, has been promoted, from associate director, to director, West Palm Beach. Westheimer joined the communications company in 2016 as a senior account executive. Westheimer

Governmental

The Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation elected a new Chair and Vice Chair: Representative Matt Willhite (DWellington) was elected chair of the delegation, replacing the outgoing Chair, Representative Bill Hager (R-Delray Beach). Representative Rick Roth (R- Loxahatchee) was also elected, as the Delegation’s Vice Chair.

Gov. Rick Scott announced appointments to the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council including: Yolanda Herrera, of Hialeah, and a therapeutic foster parent for Pinnacle Family Services; and Frank Shalett, of Fort Lauderdale, an advocate for persons with disabilities, both appointed for a term ending September 30, 2022.

Palm Beach County Commissioner Steven L. Abrams was selected executive director of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority.

Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business will host its 27th annual Business Leader of the Year breakfast Jan. 30, 2019 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, to recognize the accomplishments of Fabiola Brumley, Bank of America’s market president in Palm Beach County. In addition to her market president role, Brumley is the Southeast Region Business Banking executive for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, responsible for a seven-state region in the southeastern U.S. Business Banking serving small to mid-sized U.S. Brumley is a member of the executive committee and past chair of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, and also holds positions on the executive board of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County, on the board of directors of the United Way of Palm Beach County, and on the board and executive committee of the Florida Bankers Association.
