Artis Senior Living to Open New Memory Care Assisted Living Community in Davie

South Florida Sun-Sentinel (Sunday) - - Local -

Artis Senior Living will be opening a 72-suite memory care community in Davie for seniors affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Residents will be able to move freely among neighborhoods in the one-story, 35,000 square foot community. They can also take advantage of an outdoor area on three acres of secured land. The community is strategically located at 2794 S. Flamingo Road, so it is easily accessible from Florida’s Turnpike, I-595, and I-75. Amy DePreker, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, answered some questions about the new Memory Care Assisted Living Community.

Describe the community. The community will be comprised of four neighborhoods designed to create an intimate environment with familiar living spaces. Each level of the community will include a central core, known as the “Town Center, flanked by four distinct “neighborhoods” that will serve as intimate living spaces. The

Town Centers will feature a host of amenities, including a neighborhood center for community gatherings and a studio for activities, as well as a health center, beauty and barber shop.

How do you tailor each person’s

living experience? Artis Senior Living of Davie strives to make sure that its residents and their families have a say in how they live. Our philosophy centers around empowerment, pride and fulfillment for all our residents. Instead of a one-size-fits-all philosophy, the experience is tailored specifically to each person to ensure independence, dignity and quality of life.

Describe some of the design

features. Influenced and refined by 20 years of operational experience, the new residence is thoughtfully designed to enhance residents’ cognition and quality of life by creating a home environment that is both nurturing and comfortable. Design features include smallerscale spaces, residential finishes, and the use of themes for wayfinding and location recognition.

What is “The Artis Way?” We follow what we call “The Artis Way.” Each letter of the word Artis stands for a tenet of the organization.

“A” is the ability to have a voice. We want residents and their families to engage in open communication with our associates to make sure that what we’re doing is the right fit for them. This goes for our employees and management, too.

“R” is about respecting and maintaining relationships. We’re like family here, because we’re so in tune with our residents’ likes and dislikes. “T” stands for treasuring each person’s uniqueness.

“I” is for integrity. We promote dignity and respect, including those who work with and for Artis. “S” is for success and recognition, which we promote both inside and outside the building. What is special about your team members? While Artis is a newer company (established in 2012), the Artis team of associates and consultants has over 20 years of experience in senior housing and health care. Most of our team members have experienced Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias in their families, creating an added incentive and passion for our mission.

How many people are affected by Alzheimer’s and

Dementia? Every 67 seconds, someone develops Alzheimer’s disease. By 2025, the number of people ages 65 and older with Alzheimer’s disease is estimated to reach 7.1 million. Dementia is becoming more and more of an epidemic, which in turn means the more quality care we can offer, the more fulfilling the lives of those with dementia can lead.

Are there other facilities in the

area? The residence will be the fisrsttfrfereesstatannddininggmmeemmooryryccaarere community of its kind in Daviie..
