Robinson excited by changes at UM

ROYAL PALM BEACH — Palm Beach Central wide receiver Bryan Robinson has had a wild ride while keeping up with his future college team recently.

The Broncos’ 2020 star has been committed to the Miami Hurricanes since July, but in the last few weeks he has seen coach Mark Richt retire and Manny Diaz take the head coaching job after initially accepting the head coach position at Temple.

“It’s been crazy,” Robinson said at the Florida Fire 7-on-7 open run on Saturday. “But I think Manny Diaz is going to be something big.”

Robinson said he has a good relationship with the new Hurricanes coach, even though Diaz was Miami’s defensive coordinator.

“We talked plenty of times,” Robinson said. “He just texted the other day, matter of fact.”

Diaz announced the hire of Alabama quarterbacks coach Dan Enos as the Hurricanes’ offensive coordinator on Friday.

“I think it’s a good choice,” Robinson said.

Robinson was a firstteam All-County pick this season after lead the Broncos with 976 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He is rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports’ composite ranking, which rates him the No. 81 player and No. 19 wide receiver in the 2020 class.

Palm Beach Central’s Jake Ray picks up first offer: Robinson’s teammate, Jake Ray, received an offer from Bowling Green on Friday for his first scholarship offer.

“It’s just like a sigh of relief,” Ray said at the Fire open run. “If you don’t have any — last week, I didn’t have any, and I was stressing.”

Ray, a rising senior 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end, said he doesn’t know much about Bowling Green yet, and he’s still receiving interest from more schools.

“I’m talking to Penn State, Wake Forest, South Carolina,” he said.

American Heritage-Delray quarterback Zach Bohannon headed to Elite 11 regional: The Stallions rising senior quarterback and second-team All-County pick is one quarterback who earned an invitation to the Elite 11 regional competition.

“It’s always a great opportunity to compete,” Bohannon said.

Bohannon finished his junior year, his first at American Heritage, with

2,575 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. The Stallions’ season ended with a regional final loss to Chaminade-Madonna, but Bohannon said there isn’t much trash talk on the Fire

7-on-7 team between the playoff opponents.

“I try to stay as humble as I can, so I trash talk when I get on the field — I let my work show on the field,” he said.
