Police: Strip club shooting kills man

After bullets fly outside a Miami-Dade strip club, police have identified the two men who were shot - including a Coral Springs man who died.

Jose D. Otero, 31, was killed about 6:38 a.m. Thursday. Eric Bauer, 46, was wounded but was able to drive himself to Jackson Memorial Hospital, investigators said.

Both were working as security guards at the Booby Trap Lounge, at 3615 Northwest South River Drive, when some men got into an argument that escalated into a fight inside the club, police said.

Otero and Bauer escorted the men outside and the men were seen driving away.

A short time later a car driving westbound on South River Drive stopped in front of the club and at least one man got out and opened fire before driving away, investigators said.

Otero died at the scene. Bauer was struck in his upper arm, police said.

It’s unclear if the shooter was one of the men who was escorted out of the club but police said they consider the shooter or shooters armed and dangerous. Detectives were seeking surveillance video from surrounding businesses to help identify the shooter and the vehicle.
