- By Johnny Diaz

Miami chef Michelle Bernstein takes some bites out of the Keys in a new one-hour special called “Taste the Florida Keys with Chef Michelle Bernstein.”

The South Florida PBS program debuts at 9 p.m. Feb. 11 on WPBT-Ch. 2 in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, and at 8 p.m. Feb. 14 on WXEL-Ch. 42 in West Palm Beach.

In the documentary, Bernstein hopscotches along the 125 miles of the Keys to explore some of the region’s island foods and culinary delights. That includes stone crabs from Keys Fisheries’ Gary Graves in Marathon and raw honey from the hives at Keez Beez, also in Marathon. Award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein is seen with an iconic Florida Keys Key lime pie for her new documentary “Taste the Keys with Chef Michelle Bernstein.”

She’ll also highlight Key West chef Paul Menta’s distilled rum and fruits

from Lloyd’s Tropical Bike Tour in Key West. And Bernstein will present an early version of the Key lime pie.

There will be a screening of the documentary followed by a question and answer session with Bernstein and producers from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 4 at Sundowners restaurant, 103900 Overseas Highway, in Key Largo.

For free tickets, visit www.eventbrite.com and search for “Taste of the Florida Keys with Michelle Bernstein.”

It’s not the first time Bernstein has hit the road for one of her culinary shows. Two years ago, her WPLG-Ch. 10 program “SoFlo Taste’’ traveled to Havana for two episodes centered around Cubanowned restaurants called

and shopping in the city’s open-air markets for ingredients.
