Lessons from shutdown

South Florida Sun-Sentinel (Sunday) - - Opinion -

President Trump's defeat at the hands of House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi serves two rather obvious lessons that we seemingly have to learn over and over again.

First, the best way to defeat a bully is to stand up to them, not give in to them as Pelosi exposed Trump for the weak, cowardly person he is.

Secondly, too many of us moths were attracted to the flame and Trump became president. Frankly, Ted Cruz would have been many people's second choice.

Decent, hard-working politicians, like former governors John Kasich and Jeb Bush never stood a chance. Next election, let's look a little closer into the horse’s mouth before we hitch our wagon to him.
