NSU honors Rick, Rita Case for service
Rick and Rita Case, auto dealership owners and philanthropists in South Florida, are being lauded by Nova Southeastern University for their work in the community.
The Cases are the recipients of the President’s Award for Excellence in Community Service, an award given annually by NSU president George Hanbury II, whose “good works are making the world a better place to live,” according to NSU.
A gala in the Cases’ honor was set Saturday evening at the Rick Case Arena in the Don Taft University Center on NSU’s Davie campus at 3301 College Ave.
The Cases have been the recipients of many industry and South Florida awards. In 2018, the couple’s Rick Case Honda dealership in Davie was honored with the 2017 Honda President’s Elite award — the 10th year the dealership received the top honor by Honda.
Last year, with financial support from the Cases, Habitat for Humanity of Broward County broke ground on 77 affordable homes to provide home ownership to lowincome families in Pompano Beach.
And since 1982, the “Rick Case Bikes for Kids” program has donated more than 100,000 bikes to children during the holidays in South Florida, Cleveland, and Atlanta.
In 2017, NSU named its arena after Rick Case, who moved his
business to South Florida in 1985. The Cases operate 16 dealerships in Florida, Georgia and Ohio.
The Cases have raised more than $50 million for community and charitable organizations including the Boys & Girls Clubs,
Cleveland Clinic, American Heart Association, Nova Southeastern University and Habitat for Humanity.
