“Dot” Smeck, 98, of Plan­ta­tion, FL, passed away of nat­u­ral causes in hospice of Sun­rise, FL. Daugh­ter of Dr. Carl A. and Mar­guerette V. Hirschman of In­di­anapo­lis, IN, and spouse of Woodrow W. Smeck of Lan­caster, OH, Dorothy lived a long, full life in many places, in­clud­ing Day­ton, OH, Oak­wood Park, IN, Kitch­ener, Canada, Kansas City, Lan­caster, OH, Min­neapo­lis, Chicago, and Plan­ta­tion, FL. Dorothy grad­u­ated in

1942 from Pur­due Univer­sity and was a mem­ber of Pi Beta Phi soror­ity. Fol­low­ing grad­u­a­tion, she worked four years in the Chem­i­cals and Plas­tics Re­search Lab­o­ra­to­ries at Na­tional Cash Reg­is­ter. In 1947, she joined the early ranks of TWA air­line hostesses, serv­ing meals com­plete with linen and sil­ver while fly­ing on Con­stel­la­tion L-749A air­craft. She was in­tel­li­gent, beau­ti­ful, and hu­mor­ous. Dorothy is sur­vived by two nieces and three neph­ews and will be memo­ri­al­ized at Maple Grove Ceme­tery, along­side her hus­band, in Lan­caster, OH.
