Bergeron Land Development has promoted Brian Landis from project manager of the SunTrax Test Facility in Central Florida to construction manager for all Bergeron Land Development projects.

Law
Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen & Levine announced that Lindsay Haber has been elected to the firm’s partnership. Previously, Haber was an associate in its Family Law Group since joining the firm in
2011.
Clarke Silverglate, P.A. announced that Barbara C. Lewis and Trevor Gillum have joined the firm as associate attorneys.
Culture
The 2019 Florida Folk Heritage Awards, given to folk artists and advocates who have made longstanding contributions to the folklife and cultural resources of Florida, were honored. In the category of Folklife Advocate, award recipients are James Billie, born of the Bird Clan in Dania, and former chairman of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and Tina Bucuvalas, curator of Arts & Historical Resources for the city of Tarpon Springs. Billie, chairman of the Seminole Tribe of Florida from 1979-2001 and 2011-2016, is a songwriter and has worked to promote the preservation of Seminole traditional culture and language. Folklorist Bucuvalas established the South Florida Folklife Center at HistoryMiami, served as State Folklorist with the Florida Folklife Program and is now the curator of Arts and Historical Resources for the city of Tarpon Springs.
Real estate, property and development
Mark Corlew, a partner with Floridabased real estate investment management group Grover Corlew, has been appointed to the NAIOP national board of directors, a Commercial Real Estate Development Organization. Corlew also serves on NAIOP’s South Florida board of directors.
Douglas Elliman residential real estate company announced the addition of Patricia Rotsztain as the new managing broker for the firm’s Miami Beach offices. Rotsztain will be assuming the role previously held by Maggie Buck, who has relocated to oversee operations for Douglas Elliman’s first office in Coral Gables.
The Miami office of Crossman & Company announced that Fernando Espino has been promoted to senior associate. Tavistock Development Company, a diversified real estate firm and owner of Pier Sixty-Six Hotel & Marina in Fort Lauderdale, appointed Chris Gandolfo as vice president, where he will lead and oversee the development and construction of Pier Sixty-Six during the company’s revitalization of the waterfront property.
Celino South Beach announced the appointment of Michael Ryan as general manager and Domingo Velasco as director of sales and marketing.
Franklin Street expanded its Fort Lauderdale team by naming Mark Behling as its retail investment sales senior associate. Most recently, Behling was vice president of operations for The Related
Group.
An active commercial real estate professional and vice president of Colliers International South Florida, Mitash Kripalani, CCIM has been named 2019 President
Education
of the Miami-Dade/ Monroe District of the Florida CCIM chapter. Kripalani has been a member of the CCIM chapter since 2014 and has been actively involved on the Board, also previously serving as education chairman for the Miami Dade district.
Law enforcement
The Broward County Police Benevolent Association, the voice of law enforcement in Broward County, announced Michael Braverman P.A. as the organization’s senior general counsel. In his new role, Braverman will lead an expanded legal department which now incorporates PBA-affiliated attorneys from Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties as well. Braverman began his career with the Dade County PBA from 1985-95, as a law clerk, staff attorney and general counsel. He started his own firm in 1995, but remained a PBA-affiliated attorney, representing law enforcement officers throughout the state of Florida as a special labor counsel.
Lynn University in Boca Raton appointed Dr. Gary Villa to dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, succeeding Dr. Katrina Carter-Tellison as she assumes the role of academic dean full-time.
Nancy Jean Davis has joined the board of Weston-based Council for Educational Change. Davis currently serves as President of McArthur Management Company and President of the J.N. McArthur Foundation. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Chapman Partnership for the Homeless, the Orange Bowl Committee, the International Women’s Forum, Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, Bok Tower Gardens, and the Florida Council of 100.
Robbi Stivers has joined Palm Beach State College as the new vice president of administration and business services. For the last year, Stivers held the position of chief financial officer and vice president for business & finance at the California State University Chico campus

The Home Furnishings Association elected 2019 officers during its annual membership meeting in the HFA Retailer Resource Center at Las Vegas Market, including Jesús Capó, El Dorado Furniture, Opa Locka.
Finance
Premier Assurance Group SPC Ltd., a Cayman Islands insurance company, has announced that Alcides I. Avila has been named to its board of directors. Avila is a corporate and financial services partner at Avila, Rodriguez Hernandez Mean & Ferri LLP in Miami.
Rehmann has promoted Associate Lisa Horesh to office manager in the firm’s Boca Raton office.
Restaurants
Shula’s Restaurant Group announced new executives: Bill Freeman, chief executive officer, Shardul Kiri chief brand and marketing officer; Chef Demetrio Zavala, corporate culinary director, and Gordon Gilbert, director of operations for the brand’s portfolio. Mary Anne Shula, wife of Don Shula and the former CEO, is the current chairman of the board for Shula’s Restaurant Group.
Lifestyle
Arden, a master-planned community in western Palm Beach County added Amy Blackman as community manager. Blackman was previously recreation superintendent of the city of Boynton Beach and recreation supervisor for the city of West Palm Beach.
