Police need more training

South Florida Sun-Sentinel (Sunday) - - Opinion -

The recent letter to the editor regarding actions of police officers in Coconut Creek and Parkland missed the point. Small cities don’t have the resources, nor the knowledge, to educate their officers.

Every officer should be required to spend one week a year to retrain and keep abreast of new technology at a Police Academy. Where, in Florida, do we have an academy?

The police union should be demanding their officers get the best training and equipment possible while also having their back.

The men and women who devote their lives for the community are not getting the support they deserve. Ruvin “Rudy” Weingard, Coconut Creek
