Florida At­lantic Univer­sity’s Col­lege of Busi­ness hosted its 27th an­nual Busi­ness Leader of the Year break­fast re­cently at the Boca Raton Re­sort & Club, to cel­e­brate the ac­com­plish­ments of Fabi­ola Brum­ley, Bank of Amer­ica’s mar­ket pres­i­dent in Palm Beach County.

In ad­vance of its 27th an­nual AfricanAmer­i­can Achiev­ers awards cer­e­mony, JM Fam­ily En­ter­prises, South­east Toy­ota Dis­trib­u­tors and JM Lexus re­cently held a pri­vate re­cep­tion to an­nounce the 2019 African-Amer­i­can Achiev­ers. They are: Arts & Cul­ture: Ad­do­nis Parker — Mi­amiDade County — pain­ter and mu­ral­ist; Busi­ness & En­trepreneurism: James Thomas — Palm Beach County — en­tre­pre­neur and ra­dio per­son­al­ity and pro­gram di­rec­tor for 99 JAMZ. Com­mu­nity Ser­vice: Jas­min D. Shirley — Broward County — se­nior vice pres­i­dent of com­mu­nity health ser­vices at Broward Health; Ed­u­ca­tion: Web­ber J. Charles — Mi­ami-Dade County — di­rec­tor of stu­dent achieve­ment at Break­through Mi­ami. A for­mal pre­sen­ta­tion will be made to the hon­orees at 6:30 p.m. April 24 at the Broward County Con­ven­tion Cen­ter.

Tony Ar­giz, chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer and chair­man of MBAF, is be­ing hon­ored with the Hope Prom­ise Dream Award at the Ju­ve­nile Di­a­betes Re­search Foun­da­tion’s Hope Prom­ise Dream Gala, which will be on May 18 at the Semi­nole Hard Rock Ho­tel & Casino Hol­ly­wood.
