Spaghetti dinner supports LifeNet4Families

South Florida Sun-Sentinel (Sunday) - - Travel & Life - By Krislyn Placide

What started out as a small dinner for Andy Cagnetta’s family and friends 17 years ago became a gathering of more than 900 guests this year at Signature Grand in Davie on Feb. 10.

The event, which included an Italianstyle dinner and live and silent auctions, raised $240,000 for LifeNet4Families, an organization that provides food, ancillary services and referrals to those in need in Broward County.

Several members of the South Florida community were recognized as honorary chefs.

Youths were also recognized as junior chefs for their involvement and achievements in fundraising, community service and leadership.

Guests heard from the nonprofit’s CEO Melanie Geddes, as well as her colleague Rachael Small. Small once faced homelessness and slept in her car for nine months. The organization helped her to get on her feet. This month, she was able to move into her own apartment.
