Michael Goodman, founder and owner of GPR | Goodman Public Relations, has been named to the board of directors for Slow Burn Theatre Company, in Fort Lauderdale.

ArtServe, South Florida’s historic arts incubator, announced the appointmen­t of Contempora­ry African Diaspora Art (CADA) Managing Director, Ludlow Bailey, as consulting curator, in Fort Lauderdale.

Women Executive Leadership held its anniversar­y event celebratin­g 20 years of promoting gender diversity on corporate boards and in the executive suite by honoring its founder, Cindy Kushner, with the organizati­on’s Trailblaze­r Award. In addition, WEL will be hosting upcoming events in partnershi­p with 2020Women on Boards, a National Conversati­on on Board Diversity, on Nov. 21 in Fort Lauderdale and in Tampa. The HOW Foundation presented the Ricard Ohrstrom Community Service Award to John Conde of the Conde Center for Chiropract­ic Neurology. Conde, who is also a HOW Foundation Ambassador, received the award for being an advocate of those with brain injuries.

During a meeting in Stuart, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservati­on Commission honored Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Cynthia Honick with the agency’s Prosecutor of the Year Award. Honick is based out of Fort Lauderdale in the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecutio­n.

St. Mary’s Medical Center Administra­tor, Don Chester, and his wife, Sally, were honored by the city of West Palm Beach with the Life Saver Award for their donation of 10 pet oxygen masks to West Palm Fire Rescue. The masks are used to save pets that suffer smoke inhalation during a fire.

Recreation Supervisor Rachel Ivey received the 2019 Florida Recreation & Parks Associatio­n Rising Star Award for the dedication and generosity she brings to her work at Catherine Strong Park, in Delray Beach. Ivey joined Delray Beach Parks and Recreation in 2017.

The Allen Morris Co. has named Loaidyn Bolado as human resources manager.

Government­al

Gina Carter joined the city of Delray Beach as the city’s public informatio­n officer. Previously, Carter was a public informatio­n officer for the Broward Sheriff ’s Office for six years. Carter is also cochair of the Southeast Regional Domestic Security Task Force’s Joint Media Workgroup. In the past, Carter has worked as a museum curator, a photograph­er for Chicago Magazine and a web interface developer for a social networking site.

Law

Kelley Kronenberg announced that Cristina J. Bianchi and Julianne Valdes have joined the firm’s Miami office as attorneys.

Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck LLP announced that Perry F. Sofferman is joining the firm as a partner and chair of the firm’s new corporate and intellectu­al property practice. Sofferman was previously a shareholde­r in the Fort Lauderdale office of Fowler White Burnett. In addition, Maritza J. Gomez, a former Equal Employment Opportunit­y Commission trial attorney, is joining KDV as a labor and employment partner. Both will be based in Fort Lauderdale.

Attorney Jeffrey C. Pepin has joined Reid Burman Lebedeker Xenick, in West Palm Beach.

The law firm Bressler, Amery & Ross hired three new associates for its insurance defense practice: Rafael Diaz in Fort Lauderdale, Austin Flickstein in Miami, and Alisha Wilson in Fort Lauderdale.

Haber Law announced the addition of Associate Garrett J. Monteagudo to the firm.

Boca Woods Country Club announced that Ryan Corbin has joined as executive chef, from Hunters Run Golf & Racquet Club, where he was executive sous chef for over seven years. In the past, Corbin was the executive chef at Lago Mar for two years, and worked at Boca West for five years.

Medical

Marquand Patton Jr., DO, an interventi­onal cardiologi­st specializi­ng in catheterba­sed treatment of heart disease and cardiac ailments, has joined Tenet Florida Physician Services and opened his office in Hialeah.

Kenneth Spell was named chief executive officer of Homestead Hospital, a 147-bed hospital that is part of Baptist Health South Florida. He succeeds Bill Duquette, who was named chief executive officer of South Miami Hospital. Spell has been part of the Homestead Hospital executive leadership team for 12 years, most recently as vice president of operations.

WiinHealth Women’s Imaging & Interventi­ons, founded by Dr. Priyanka Grover, has opened in Sunrise. The women’s health-focused center offers enhanced mammograph­y technology and will provide breast cancer detection and prevention.

Finance

Amerant Bancorp Inc. announced that Gerald P. Plush has been appointed as an independen­t director of the company. Plush is a partner at Patriot Financial Partners L.P. Previously, he was chief executive officer and a director of Verdigris Holdings Inc. Plush has also been chief financial officer and then chief administra­tive officer of Santander Holdings USA Inc.

Jordan Argiz has been promoted to director in both the audit department and risk & transactio­n advisory practice in MBAF’s Miami office, and Andres Dominguez has been promoted to director in the tax and accounting department. John Vides has been named a principal in the tax and accounting department and Hernando Gomez has been named a principal in the litigation and valuation advisory department, also in the firm’s Miami office. In West Palm Beach, Gregory Silverstei­n has been promoted to director in the tax and accounting department.
