NASA parodies Ariana Grande video to promote moon mission

NASA took one of Ariana Grande’s recent songs to the moon and back.

Interns working at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston remixed Grande’s “NASA” song and produced their own “educational parody” music video.

“As we look forward to sending the first woman and the next man to the Moon by 2024 with our #Artemis missions, interns working at NASA’s Johnson Space Center remixed Ariana Grande’s song “NASA” to share their excitement for deep space exploration,’’ the space agency posted Sunday on Facebook.

Artemis refers to the lunar space program to land the first woman and the next man on the Moon by 2024.

The program will use the new Space Launch System (SLS) rocket to launch astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft for a lunar orbit. They will then dock Orion at the Gateway, a small ship that will orbit the Moon. NASA will use what it has learned from that mission for future missions to Mars.

NASA describes the

three-minute video as a “volunteer outreach video project.”

“The lyrics and scenes in the video have been re-imagined in order to inform the public about the amazing work going on at NASA and the Johnson Space Center,’’ the students wrote on Youtube. Grande’s song talks about a woman who needs some distance from her boyfriend.

The NASA video shows the interns in various scenes at the space agency from manning the communications control center, strolling in space suits around the campus and working in the huge ISS training pool where astronauts learn what it’s like to work in space.

Their remixed hook is:

“Out of this world, going to space, going to space, yeah we’re going to space…”

The students also changed up the lyrics to reflect their space goals, “You may not believe it but there is so much to uncover. ISS in orbit, oh the views will make you wonder. Back to lunar orbit there is still more to uncover.”

The Boca Raton native’s original song is featured on her latest album, “Thank You, Next” which debuted at the top of the Billboard

200 chart in February. Grande, who performed at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami in June for two sold out concerts, returns to the venue Nov.

27. She recently performed at Manchester Pride in England.
