Ellen DeGeneres and Kris, Kylie Jenner surprise women’s group

Samantha Gil and members of her South Florida nonprofit organization, Nest of Love, thought they were shooting a promo for the season premiere of the Ellen DeGeneres show.

But the promo turned out to be a stunt to surprise Gil and her friends with lots and lots of gifts — totaling $750,000.

DeGeneres and guests Kris and Kylie Jenner invited Gil and 10 friends on stage during Monday’s show to announce that they were recipients of $150,000 for the group. The nonprofit brings young women together each week to empower them through mentoring, spiritual guidance and wellness programs.

“We want you to keep helping the community and mentoring young women,’’ DeGeneres said on the show. She and the Jenners also surprised Gil with another $100,000 in cash which was presented in a makeup box from Kylie Jenner.

“Oh my God,’’ said a shocked and overwhelmed Gil, who lives in Miramar. She told DeGeneres and the Jenners some of her backstory, how she was the daughter of a 17-year-old mother, how her grandmother raised her and that her father wasn’t really present in her life.

“For me, it’s helping other girls that have been in my similar situation,” Gil said through tears.

“With all that you have going on in your lives, we realize that you take time out to do things for your community and that’s really impressive,’’ said Kris Jenner, who also surprised each of the women with birthday make up kits from her daughter’s cosmetics brand.

The gifts didn’t stop there. Kylie Jenner gave each of the ladies checks for $50,000.

The money is part of a $1 million that Kylie Jenner is giving away for the premiere week of DeGeneres’ show, now in its 17th season.

Gil, a former finance manager, said that she launched the group because, “I wanted someone to believe in me. I find so many women who are not supported yet seeking leadership, so I created Nest of Love. Being a finance manager was not fulfilling my purpose, I need to empower women to become leaders at All Stages of Their Lives,” she wrote on her group’s website.

In August, Nest of Love volunteers helped the Voices For Children Foundation which closed down an Old Navy store in Dadeland where 400 foster kids were each given $100 gift cards to spend for back to school clothes. Adidas donated kids shoes at the event and Nest of Love and Royal Caribbean also filled backpacks with school supplies.

Gil said she plans to use some of the money from the Jenner to find a new home for her nonprofit which partners with different groups to hold events around the region.

“That is one of the goals,” Gil, 27, told the Sun Sentinel. “It will go toward getting our own facility so we can administer our operations and the programs that we run.”
