This weekend will be a mixed bag of weather in South Florida, with wetter conditions Sunday — followed by cooler and drier air for the week.

A storm system that took shape over Mississippi and Alabama on Saturday will already be moving through the area. The best chance for rain begins around 6 a.m. to 7 a.m along the Treasure Coast sliding into Palm Beach County by 9 to 10 a.m. and then later into Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

The front itself should be rather weak on the southern extent, meaning showers should be scattered to widely scattered in nature. Not everyone will see the rain, but everyone will see overcast conditions. The rain will move through the area for much of the morning, with the front well south of Boca Raton and Palm Beach County by 2 p.m. Showers will come to an end by then, but the clouds should remain. Still, highs will be in the low 80s.

It’s not until Monday the true effect of this “cold front” will be felt - highs in the low to mid-70s. A lot of dry air though, and that makes for some perfect travel conditions across the state and much of the southeast.

Thanksgiving Day looks dry here, too. With an exiting storm system across the northeast that day, a decaying cold front will try and push down towards South Florida. Right now, the models have this front falling apart completely, with some not even having the front reach us at all. Have accounted for the possibility the front may be broken and put in a 10% chance of a shower, but expect mostly sunny skies that day with highs in the midto upper 70s.
