Junior League honors women who serve community

They serve the community in a variety of ways throughout the year, but for one day the spotlight is on them.
A total of 37 women volunteers from Palm Beach County nonprofits were celebrated at the Junior League of Boca Raton’s 32nd annual Woman Volunteer of the Year Award Luncheon & Fashion Show at the Boca Raton Resort & Club.
Two women were chosen by an independent panel of judges to receive top honors.
Michelle Stallone was named the 2019 Woman Volunteer of the Year and Kirsten Stanley received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Every year we are inspired by the accomplishments and commitment of the nominees. Michelle Stallone and Kirsten Stanley and their fellow nominees are outstanding examples of selflessness in our community,” Lisa Warren, 2019 Woman Volunteer of the Year co-chairwoman, said in a statement.
Stallone was nominated by Pink Ball, an organization she founded in 2010 that provides funding for screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds and MRIs and breast biopsies for women who are uninsured or underinsured. Pink Ball also received $2,500 from the Junior League of Boca Raton.
She also volunteers with Boca Helping Hands and West Boca Youth Baseball League, her children’s schools and church.
Stallone has been chairwoman of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation’s Go Pink Challenge Committee since 2014.
