Governmental
Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Sandra Einhorn of Hollywood to the Florida Housing Finance Corporation for a four-year term. The Florida Housing Finance Corporation was created to assist Florida residents by providing a range of affordable housing opportunities. Einhorn is the executive director for the Coordinating Council of Broward, a nonprofit organization responsible for implementing health, public safety, education, economic and human services in Broward County.
The Building Officials Association of Palm Beach County recognized two Wellington building department officials with top honors during the 2019 BOAPBC annual luncheon. Building Official Jacek Tomasik received the 2019 Building Official of the Year award for demonstrating professional abilities that are recognized as an example for all members of the code enforcement profession; and furthering the cause of safety in the built environment within his jurisdiction and state. Senior Permitting Technician Juan Sanchez received the 2019 Permit Technician of the Year award for supporting, educating, and promoting the importance of permit technicians in his community and statewide.
Tammy Jackson-Moore was appointed by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners to serve a fouryear term on the Board of the Health Care District of Palm Beach County. She replaces Commissioner Brian R. Lohmann, whose term expired. Jackson-Moore is a consultant, a community organizer, and is the co-founder of Guardians of the Glades.
Entertainment
SWARM, an events company that produces over 100+ experiences, with over 2 million event-goers per year such as Grovetoberfest, Basel House and Wynwood Life, along with annual partnership ventures such as the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, announced that Albert Maloof Berdellans
III joined as vice president of marketing. Berdellans was most recently head of marketing for Ultra Music Festival, where he held various roles since 2012.
Community
The 2019 Viscardi Achievement Awards honored 10 global leaders in New York City for their extraordinary societal contributions and for having a profound impact on improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in their countries and around the world, including Virginia Jacko, who is blind and is the president and chief executive officer of the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The awards program commemorates The Viscardi Center Founder, Dr. Henry Viscardi Jr., who wore prosthetic legs. Viscardi, a disability advocate, served as an adviser to eight presidents, from Franklin D. Roosevelt to Jimmy Carter, and implemented groundbreaking employment and education programs that continue to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.
Dodie Keith-Lazowick, president and managing principal of KEITH, a Pompano Beach-based civil engineering firm, was honored as Seafarers’ House South Florida Business Leader of the Year. The award ceremony took place aboard Holland America Line’s ms Eurodam docked at Port Everglades. The awards program recognizes leadership, entrepreneurial background, and philanthropic contributions to the communities where the honorees live and work, as well as long-term contributions to the success, diversity and breadth of the South Florida business community.
On the board
Miramar-based Generex Biotechnology Corp. appointed Dr. Marvin S. Hausman to the NuGenerex Immuno-Oncology board of directors. Hausman is an immunologist and board-certified urological surgeon. Hausman is chairman of the board and chief science and technology officer of Entia Biosciences Inc. Previously Hausman was a co-founder of Medco Research Inc., a clinical research organization and biotechnology company specializing in adenosine products, which was subsequently acquired by King Pharmaceuticals.

Industrial
Lumitec, a designer and manufacturer of extreme environment LED lighting solutions primarily in the marine industry, appointed Jeremy Pace as director of sales at its research and development/manufacturing headquarters in Delray Beach. Prior to Lumitec, Pace was account manager Pace with Chauvet Lighting, a manufacturer of LED lighting for the entertainment industry.
Law
Michelle F. Tanzer, who joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in September, was appointed as co-chair in the firm’s hospitality & tourism team in Boca Raton.
Greenberg Traurig P.A. expanded its real estate practice with attorney Mark. A. Tobin, who is a member of the firm’s litigation practice and real estate practice. Tobin was formerly with Akerman LLP and previously with the former eminent domain law firm of Brigham Moore LLP.
Lifestyle
Jim Wood was named the executive director for Garden Plaza at Inverrary, an independent and assisted living community in Lauderhill. Wood most recently was executive director for Atria Willow Wood in Fort Lauderdale for three years. Prior to that, he was with two Brookdale Senior Living communities in Kansas City for eight years.
Belmont Village Fort Lauderdale, a new living community scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2020, appointed Rene Buck as executive director. Previously, Buck was the executive director of Grand Villa Delray West and was regional supervisor for Allegro Managment Co.

Thirteen Miami commercial real estate leaders were elected to the 2020 CREW Miami (Commercial Real Estate Women) board of directors. The board will be led by Alicia Morales-Fernandez as president; she is a real estate partner at Rennert Vogel, Mandler & Rodriguez P.A. Also, Ligia Labrada is president elect/ network liaison; she is with UNUM Consulting.
