Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. appointed Scott Dahnke to its board of directors as a new independent director. Dahnke is the global co-chief executive officer of L Catterton, a consumer-focused private equity firm.
Design
ShelfGenie of Fort Lauderdale, a franchise that designs, builds, and installs custom pull-out shelving solutions into existing cabinets, added two new designers: Sebastian Puga and Catalina Sastre.
Education
Florida International University has named former Costa Rican President, Luis Guillermo Solís, as interim director of the Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center, replacing Frank Mora, a former deputy assistant defense secretary who led the center since 2013.
Florida Atlantic University announced that the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, in collaboration with FAU’s Brain Institute, hired Susan Schneider, Ph.D., to the position of William F. Dietrich Chair in Philosophy. Schneider comes to FAU from the University of Connecticut where she was a professor of philosophy and cognitive science and the director of the AI, Mind and Society Research Group. She is also the NASABaruch S. Blumburg Chair and a Distinguished Scholar Chair at the Library of Congress.
Loggerhead Marinelife Center announced leadership appointments: Jack E. Lighton as senior adviser; and Caitlin Farmer and Tim Hannon promoted as co-interim chief executive officers.

Gunster announced the addition of attorneys Lina Celine Angelici , J. Travis Godwin, Steven Sukert, and Laura Barry, in West Palm Beach.
Community
At its annual meeting, the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County welcomed Hope Silverman as its new board chair, and the following individuals to its 2020-2021 Board of Directors: Sandra Bornstein, Jonathan Chane, Pam Comiter Alan Haspel, Rabbi Yaron Kapitulnik, Karen List, Robert Naftaly, Warren Spector, Beth Wayne and Penni Weinberg. Also, the following awards were presented: Community leaders Ilan Kaufer and Jason Rogers received the Robert S. & Ceil N. Levy Young Leadership Award for their dedication to the Jewish community; Carly Jacobson, who manages Federation’s Jewish Teen Initiative engagement program, received the Debbi Roshfeld Professional Leadership Award.
Recognition
Palm Beach dentist Dr. Mitchell Josephs was honored with the Alpert Jewish Family Service Bob Schweitzer Volunteer Award during the Alpert JFS virtual annual meeting, specifically for his work with providing free dental treatment to Holocaust survivors that are in financial need and require dental work, such as crowns, implants, extractions, dentures, and bone grafts.
Home health care, medical
Jamie Plastina, RN, BSN, acting administrator and area director of clinical services at Complete Home Care – LifeCare Health Partners, has been elected to the Home Care Association of Florida Board of Directors. In this role, she will represent the interests of Broward County home health care providers. The Home Care Association of Florida is a statewide trade association for Florida’s more than 1,900 licensed home health agencies.
Devinder Singh, M.D., joined the University of Miami Health System and Miller School of Medicine as chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery and professor of clinical surgery. He comes to UM from Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md., where he was the chief and medical director of plastic surgery.
New leaders were elected and members added at the most recent Board of Directors meeting of the Memorial and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundations. Andrew Greenfield, M.D., president of Envision Physician Services Anesthesia was named board chair, following the term of Tom Oliveri (Northern Trust), who becomes immediate past chair; Doug Gawrych (Grant Thornton) moves into the role of first vice chair and Brett Rose (UNCS) to second vice chair. Other leaders include: Treasurer Elden LeGaux (LCP), Secretary Carl Schuster, Esq., and at-large members Susanne Cornfeld Hurowitz, Beth-Ann Krimsky, Esq., and Lawrence D. Share.
Transportation
The Governing Board of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority elected Palm Beach County Commissioner Hal R. Valeche to serve as chair of the board. The Governing Board also elected Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo to serve as vice chair.
Government
West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James has been accepted to the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, which aims to help mayors respond to emerging challenges and prepare for a socially, racially, and economically equitable recovery. Only 40 mayors from around the world were accepted into the yearlong education and professional development program. The program provides leadership development, peer-topeer learning, and access to additional support such as training for senior teams on using data, Harvard graduate student fellowships, Harvard executive education scholarships, and more.
