Oceanfront estate ready for big- league buyer at $19.995M

A9,522-square-foot oceanfront estate in Golden Beach that was formerly owned by profession­al baseball player Sammy Sosa is nowready for a big-league buyer.

Originally built in 1998 but fully renovated, the property has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a massive chef’s kitchen, an open- concept contempora­ry floor plan, a spiral staircase, elevator, home theater and a pool overlookin­g the ocean. The 0.57acre lot has 75 feet ofdirect ocean frontage.

The two-story gated home, at 667 Ocean Blvd., is listed for

$19.995 million.

The Town of Golden Beach is the northernmo­st oceanfront municipali­ty in Miami-Dade County. It’sboundedby theAtlanti­c Ocean to the east, the Intracoast­al Waterway to the west, Hallandale­Beachtothe northand Sunny Isles Beach to the south.

“Golden Beach is an exclusive place,” said Jared Ringel, a real estate agent with Compass Florida in Boca Raton, who holds the listingwit­h colleagues ChrisFranc­iosa and Lisa Valko. “The entire townis about a mile fromnorth to south, andmostof the single-family homes are oceanfront.”

The current owner of the property is Scott Scharg, who purchased it in December 2018 for$10.62million. Scharg is a hair industry executive and one of the founders of It’s a 10Haircare.

Ringel said he’s selling becausehe plans tomove to a condominiu­m.

Sosa, who owned the home from2013to­2016, is anativeof the Dominican Republic who began his career in 1989 and played for 18 seasons, most of them as a right fielder for theChicago­Cubs, before retiring in 2007. He is one of nine players inMajor League Baseball history to hit 600 career homeruns.
