Police: Truck driver arrested in fatal DUI hit-and-run

A Lake Worth man has been arrested following the death of a bicyclist in a hit-and-run crash in Palm Springs on Thanksgivi­ng, the Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office said.

Victor Pacheco, 25, is facing charges that include DUI causing death, failing to stop and remain at a crash involving death., and driving without a valid license. He was jailed Friday on bonds totaling $300,000, records show.

According to the arrest report, Pacheco struck the bicyclist from behind while both were traveling west in the 2700 block of Second Avenue North about 6 p.m. Thursday.

The bicyclist landed on the hood of the pickup truck before hitting the pavement. A witness followed the truck and called 911. Palm Springs police conducted a traffic stop and arrested Pacheco, the report stated.
