Marlins promote Triple-A manager to first-base coach
Club makes several other promotions
On the heels of Kim Ng taking over as their new general manager, the Miami Marlins made several promotions throughout the organization in Friday.
The Marlins promoted Triple-A manager Keith Johnson to become the firstbase coach on manager Don Mattingly’s major-league coaching staff.
Entering his third year with theMarlins organization, Johnson spent the past two seasons serving as the club’s Triple-A manager. Representing the Marlins at the Arizona Fall League in 2019, the former fourthroundpick (1992) of the Los Angeles Dodgers managed the Salt River Rafters to an AFLchampionship.
Before coming to the Marlins, Johnson — a University of Pacific product— worked14years in the LosAngeles playerdevelopment system, earning two Managerof theYear awards.
Also Friday, theMarlins promoted Lee Tressel, who spent the last two seasons as the team’s rehab strength and conditioning coordinator, to serve as its major-league strength and conditioning coach.
The Marlins have also promoted Dan Greenlee to assistant general manager, Adrian Lorenzo to the director of baseball operations and Joey Nero to assistant director of baseball operations
